Love Joins MIT as Director of Workforce Development

On December 7, 2021, James Cain, President of the Southeast Concrete Masonry  Association, organized a meeting, which was attended by MIT Board Members, Concrete Masonry Producers, Masonry Contractors and the Director of  Apprenticeship and Work Based Learning from the State of Tennessee. The purpose was to discuss creating a position for a Director of Workforce Development, as well as develop the framework for pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs in the State of Tennessee.

Since this meeting, a registered statewide apprenticeship program has been approved by state officials and a pre-apprenticeship program has been submitted for approval.  Dustin Love has been hired as Director of Workforce Development and began employment with MIT on January 1, 2023.

Dustin was a masonry teacher and construction instructor for Claiborne High School since 2013. He also was a masonry instructor at Resource Valley Construction Training in Knoxville since 2017. Along with being an instructor, he was also the 2023 SkillsUSA Gold Medalist Advisor, 2018 Teacher of the Year, 2018 Claiborne County Economic Partnership Impact Educator Award recipient, and an active member of the National Masonry Instructors Association. Dustin was a masonry student at Claiborne County High School where he won the State Skills USA competition as a senior in 2002.
