CTE Workshop @ Morgan Co. Correction Complex

In conjunction with James Cain (SCMA), a Masonry 101 workshop was held for 40 CTE Teachers at the Statewide CTE Annual Conference in Chattanooga. This Workshop produced multiple meetings with Julia Gregg, Principal of the Morgan County Correctional Complex (TN Department of Corrections). These meetings culminated with a tour of the facility by SCMA and MIT leaders on September 21, 2022.  All were impressed with the facilities and programs at the Correctional Complex which include Masonry I and II, Welding, and a CDL Truckdriving Program. There are many opportunities for our manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to develop a pipeline for future employees from this facility.  At this time, MIT is committed to 4 masonry contractor visits in 2023 and to serve as the main point of contact in helping the reentry specialist place inmates within the industry.  

The first Industrial visit was April 4, 2023.  Dustin spearheaded the second visit on June 8, 2023.
